On the morning of February 9, a cargo ship sank in water about 7 nautical miles offshore from Xinliao Island in Xuwen, Zhanjiang, Guangdong. The six crew members on board fell into the water. The situation is very urgent.
After emergency coordination of search and rescue by the Guangdong Maritime Search and Rescue Center, all the crew members in distress were rescued, 5 were rescued by the nearby "Hongxin 838" boat, and 1 was rescued by a nearby fishing boat.
According to the staff of Zhanjiang Maritime Safety Administration, the rescued people are in good condition and no oil spill has been found in the waters near the wreck.
Cause of the accident is being investigated.
