The Reconstruction Agency, which was established as a control tower for reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake, celebrated its 10th anniversary in 10 days.

During this period, while housing development has progressed, future issues include soft measures such as mental care for the victims and how to revitalize the region in Fukushima Prefecture, which was damaged by the nuclear accident. increase.

The Reconstruction Agency was established on February 10, 2012 as a 10-year time-limited ministry to promote recovery and reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake and the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station of Tokyo Electric Power Company.

During this time, in response to requests from the disaster-stricken local governments, we invested more than 30 trillion yen in reconstruction projects, and last year the installation deadline was extended by 10 years.

The Reconstruction Agency says that in areas affected by the earthquake and tsunami, such as Iwate and Miyagi prefectures, hardware reconstruction such as housing development has been almost completed, but in the future, soft aspects such as mental care for disaster victims and community formation will be completed. Our policy is to focus on countermeasures as well.

In Fukushima Prefecture, where the nuclear accident occurred, in order to return residents, we aim to attract companies and create employment in areas where evacuation orders have been lifted, and decontaminate some areas even in areas where it is difficult to return. We are planning to improve the infrastructure, but the number of residents who do not return is increasing due to the prolonged evacuation life, and the issue is how to revitalize the area.
