• In Paca, one in five residents has tested positive for Covid-19 since December 1, 2021, at the heart of the fifth wave.

  • The regional incidence rate reached 2,248 cases of new coronavirus per 100,000 inhabitants, down sharply from the previous week (3,498).

  • In health establishments, “the pressure remains high” but the indicators are also falling.

This is the good news confirmed by the Regional Health Agency (ARS) in its last update: the epidemic is finally flowing back into Paca.

"Even if they remain at a very high level, all viral circulation indicators are down for the first time" since the beginning of October 2021, notes the organization.

The fifth wave has already spread widely.

Since December 1, one in five residents of the region has contracted the new coronavirus.

But now the incidence rate is down sharply.

Last week, 2,248 positive cases for the Covid-19 virus were recorded per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 3,498 from January 24 to 30.

“This reflux results not only from the decrease of almost 30% in the regional screening rate but also from the drop in the positivity rate which reached 27.7%, against 31% last week”, specifies the ARS again.

Activity "in sharp decline" in the emergency room

In health establishments, “the pressure remains high” but the indicators are also falling.

In one week, the number of patients treated in conventional services (-15) and in intensive care (-14) has slightly decreased.

“The share of Covid activity in hospital emergencies is also in sharp decline, as is that of the SOS Médecins associations”, details the organization.

Between February 2 and 8, 249 deaths of Covid-19 patients were counted in hospitals in the region.

Since the start of the epidemic, the virus has caused the death of 13,202 people in Paca, according to ARS data.
