The number of people hospitalized in critical care with a diagnosis of Covid-19 was almost stable, according to figures recorded on Monday, while contamination continues to decline, say health authorities.

A total of 3,622 Covid patients were currently in critical care, compared to 3,577 on Sunday and 3,700 the previous Monday.

The number of new admissions to these services stands at 328 (compared to 334 a week ago).

To date, 33,447 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the hospital (including 2,830 who have arrived in the past 24 hours), slightly more than Sunday (33,027) and last Monday (32,374).

Contamination down

The number of cases, however, continues to decline: there were 46,001 on Monday against 82,657 last Monday.

The average number of cases over the last seven days, the most faithful witness to the real trend in recorded contaminations, stands at 237,663, a figure which has been declining every day since the end of January, which seems to confirm that the peak of contaminations has passed.

The average was 242,899 the day before and 334,363 seven days ago.

The number of deaths in 24 hours recorded on Monday amounts to 417, which brings to 132,923 the number of deaths since the start of this epidemic for almost two years.
