New social housing, located in Buchelay (Yvelines), would suffer from serious defects.

Infiltrations, mould, collapsing ceilings… Tenants are tired of living in these conditions, reports BFM Paris.

In an attempt to limit the damage, residents use space heaters, driving up bills sharply.

Consequences on the health of tenants

But, these problems of insalubrity would also have consequences on their health.

One of the residents would have become asthmatic and her doctor would have advised her to change accommodation.

Paul Martinez, the mayor (UDI) of Buchelay then asked the ARS to comment on this insalubrity in order to issue an insalubrity order and put the lessor on notice in order to force him to carry out work.

But for the lessor, the fault would lie with the builder.

The spokesperson for Résidences Yvelines Essonne pointed to a site, built twelve years ago, "which was not necessarily carried out according to the rules of the art".

In the meantime, the lessor has nevertheless undertaken to change the shutters of the apartments.
