We finally have fresh news on

Michael

, the biopic dedicated to Michael Jackson.

According to

Variety

, the Lionsgate studio will distribute the film on the King of Pop, produced by Graham King, who was already behind

Bohemian Rhapsody

.

The publication specifies that the project is validated by the heirs of the singer, who died in 2009, which means that the frame should not be expected to dwell on the accusations of pedophilia which pursued the interpreter of

Bad

until his death and continue today.

“Michael loved the magic of movies ever since he was a kid, as a member of the Jackson 5. As a family, we are honored to see our life story come to life on the big screen…” said Katherine Jackson , the star's mother, in a statement.

A legacy on the big screen

The project is apparently more than a way of surfing the wave of biopics, which follow

Bohemian Rhapsody

on Queen (or rather Freddie Mercury),

Rocketman

for Elton John, or

I Wanna Dance with Somebody

, for Whitney Houston, which is due out this year.

Graham King said he had always been a big fan of the singer.

“I first met the Jackson family in 1981 and it is with humility that I bring their legacy to the big screen.

Sitting in Dodger Stadium watching the Victory Tour, I could never have imagined that almost 38 years later I would have the privilege of being a part of that movie,” he explained.

The biopic currently has no release date and the production has given no indication of the cast.
