In India, from this Thursday, February 10 and for a month, regional elections are held in the most populous state in the country: Uttar Pradesh, which has 230 million inhabitants.
This state has been ruled by the Hindu monk Yogi Adityanath for five years.
This ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi ruled with an iron fist, harsh against the mafias in the region, but also against his critics and the media.

He also promoted Hindu heritage and marginalized Muslims.
Today, faced with the economic crisis that the country is going through, his BJP party is in difficulty.
