Acne scars, chickenpox scars, stretch marks, post-surgical or traumatic scars... Often unsightly, these marks on the face or body can become a real complex.

Invited in "Benefit for you" on Europe 1, dermatologist Noël Schartz details the different types of laser that will improve the appearance of scars.

Are your scars a source of discomfort?

Often unsightly, these marks left by acne, chickenpox or trauma can be treated using new technologies.

Invited in "Bienfait pour vous" on Europe 1, dermatologist Noël Schartz details the different types of laser that improve the appearance of scars, by bleaching them and/or smoothing them.

The fractional laser

The fractional laser improves skin texture, softens scars and masks superficial skin irregularities.

There are two types of fractional lasers: the ablative laser (eg CO2 laser) and the non-ablative laser (eg Erbium glass laser).

The choice of laser will be based on the depth, appearance and origin of the scar.

Early treatment of scars with fractional laser achieves better results.

Fractional lasers will act on the skin by heating microzones of variable depth, leaving the areas of healthy skin around.

This allows deep healing of the skin.

What happens during a session ?

An anesthetic cream is applied to the area to be treated one hour before the treatment.

The action of the laser will cause slight discomfort but is painless.

After the session, small scabs will appear on the scar.

It is necessary to moisturize the area well for a week and apply total screen.

The ICON laser

The ICON laser is a non-ablative fractional laser.

It acts on sagging skin with a lifting and smoothing effect, and also offers a preventive action on aging.

This laser stimulates the dermis and the fibroblasts, which will secrete collagen and elastin.

He therefore comes to work the scar in depth.

An Icon laser session lasts between 15 and 30 minutes.

The application of an anesthetic cream is not necessary.

Some redness appears for 24 to 48 hours after the session.

As for the fractional laser, it is necessary to hydrate the area well, not to expose yourself to the sun and to apply total screen during the day.

The results are generally visible from the end of the first session and gradually improve throughout the duration of the treatment.

The vascular laser

We can use a vascular laser when we have a red scar which is rather centered around the excess of vessels.

This laser will destroy the vessels causing the color of the scar.

It generally takes two to three sessions, spaced two months apart, to obtain results.

LED light

LED light can be used in addition to laser treatment.

It will soothe the scar while stimulating cell activity to synthesize collagen and elastin called photomodulation.
