In the first session of the Basant suicide case: the defendants' defense blames the victim!

Yesterday, Saturday, the Tanta Criminal Court witnessed the first session of the trial of the five defendants in the suicide case of Basant Khaled, a victim of electronic extortion, in the village of Kafr Yaqoub, affiliated to the Kafr El-Zayat Center in Gharbia Governorate.

The session took place amid tight security measures inside and outside the courtroom.

The Egyptian newspaper Youm7 reported that the hall was vacated, except for the two sides of the case, and Basant's mother, father and two sisters were keen to attend the session.

The session, which lasted 30 minutes, was held in which the defendants’ defense asked the prosecution witnesses to hear their statements in the case, who are the head of the Center’s investigations and the detective inspector, blaming the victim’s family, for the lack of supervision and lack of follow-up, which was met by Bassant’s defense with great emotion. .

The defense also said that the main accused was coerced into making these confessions during his interrogation, according to them, and that the defense did not appear with him during the interrogation.

For his part, Basant’s defense demanded a temporary civil compensation of EGP 500,000 and EGP 1 for temporary compensation, and also demanded an amendment to the record and description in the case, especially that the forensic report proved that she had been subjected to infringement by the defendants, demanding that the record and description be amended to infringement instead of indecent assault, and the court raised The session was for deliberation and decided to postpone it to the March 8 session to implement the defense requests.

Meanwhile, the Juvenile Criminal Court is considering the trial of a sixth juvenile defendant in the case, which will be heard on February 24.

For her part, the mother of one of the defendants, the defendant, "Abdul Hamid. Sh," 19 years old, said that her son was innocent of the charges against him, stressing that her son was a classmate of the deceased at school and advised Sanat a lot as soon as he learned of the incident, and she told him, "Made and my lead," she said.

She explained that she spoke with her son to ascertain whether he was involved in the case or not, and he swore to her that he was innocent and had nothing to do with the case and that he was only advising the deceased.

She explained that Basant's father sat in a customary session on the day of his daughter's suicide to solve the problem amicably, but he received a call from his family that his daughter committed suicide and hurried home.
