"Guardians of the Galaxy 3" will be the last of the franchise

The third installment of

 will indeed mark the end of the franchise.

While the filming of the film is in full swing, James Gunn has decided to cut short the suspense by confirming that it is the last intergalactic adventures of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan and Dave Bautista.

“I just want to be fair to the characters and the story and give people the conclusion they deserve for this story.

It's always a bit scary.

I'm doing my best… I'm aware that the last installment sucks in most trilogies;

but not always,” he explained to Deadline.

Change of direction

Suddenly, James Gunn will try everything for everything by bringing the franchise to a darker tone which could well surprise fans accustomed to the thundering humor of the saga.

" It's enormous.

It's so huge, dark and different from what people might expect, ”promised the filmmaker finally.

As James Gunn pointed out, the last episodes of the trilogies tend to disappoint, either because they have not been able to renew the concept, or conversely because they have strayed too far from it.

It remains to be seen whether the director will have been able to find a balanced recipe and it will be necessary to wait until the spring of 2023 to find out for sure.
