"There is no difference between getting infected and then getting vaccinated, or
getting vaccinated
and then getting an infection," says study co-author Dr. Fikadu Tafesse, associate professor of molecular microbiology and immunology in the OHSU School of Medicine. Either way, you're going to get a very, very robust, surprisingly high immune response."

The new study found that it doesn't matter if someone gets an intermittent infection or gets vaccinated after a natural infection.
In both cases, the immune response measured in blood serum revealed that the antibodies were equally more abundant and more effective - at least 1,000% more effective - than the immunity generated by vaccination alone.
