GDP growth reached 7% in France in 2021, unheard of for 52 years
The growth of the French gross domestic product (GDP) reached 7% in 2021, a jump not seen for 52 years, but which comes after the record recession of 2020 (-8%), according to a first estimate published Friday by Insee .
With a fourth quarter of 2021 which experienced growth of 0.7%, the French economy “now clearly exceeds” its level before the health crisis, underlines the National Institute of Statistics.
Ukraine-Russia conflict: The United States seizes the UN Security Council
Diplomatic pressure is intensifying.
The United States announced in a statement on Thursday that it had requested an open meeting of the UN Security Council on Monday on the crisis around Ukraine because of the threat posed by Russia to international security and peace.
Originally, the United States had hoped to be able to hold this meeting of the Security Council on Friday, according to diplomats.
But, according to these sources, they agreed to postpone it to Monday so as not to interfere with a telephone meeting scheduled for Friday between the French and Russian presidents, Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Poutine.
Coronavirus in Morocco: The country reopens its airspace after two months of closure
Morocco is losing ground.
The Moroccan government has decided to reopen the airspace from February 7 to flights to and from the country, after more than two months of closure, according to a statement released Thursday evening by the MAP agency.
Authorities were under pressure from a bankrupt tourism sector and Moroccans stranded abroad to unblock borders closed since November 29 due to an outbreak of the Omicron variant.
