Kansong Museum of Art, which is famous for the relics that Hyeong-pil Hyeong-Pil Gansong saved during the Japanese colonial period, is auctioning off its collection. Up to two Buddha statues, which are national treasures, have been put up for auction. It is said that it is because of financial difficulties, but there are also critics that it is not convincing.

Two national treasures owned by the Kansong Art Museum were put up for auction yesterday (27th), but they were sold.

It was a gilt-bronze Triad of Buddha statues and a gilt-bronze Triad, but this is the first time that a national treasure has been put up for auction.

The Kansong Art Museum also sold two treasures two years ago.

It was bid at an auction at the time, but the National Museum of Korea purchased it.

The Kansong Museum of Art said that it is because of the financial difficulties caused by Corona 19, about continuing to sell and sell designated cultural assets.

However, it is pointed out that the justification is insufficient.

This is because all 4 pieces are not owned by the Kansong Cultural Foundation, but by the director of the Kansong Museum, Jeon In-geon, the eldest grandson of Professor Hyung-pil Hyeong.

[Lee Gwang-pyo/Professor Seowon University: If it is a sale and sale to overcome financial difficulties, the profits from this sale should go to the Kansong Cultural Foundation, right?] As

there is no inheritance tax for registered cultural assets, Director Jeon In-geon inherited it without paying a penny in taxes.

[Lee Kwang-pyo/Professor Seowon University: If you need something like this every time, you should openly formulate a long-term master plan for the Kansong Art Museum, rather than putting out one or two points and doing this.]

50 billion won in tax is being invested in the construction of the storage room under construction in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul and the recently started construction of the Kansong Art Museum in Daegu.

This is because the public interest and support for the Kansong Collection was great.
