But when will the epidemic curve reverse?

In Pays-de-la-Loire, the Covid-19 figures continue to panic.

The regional incidence rate thus exceeds 4,200 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to the latest data from the regional health agency (ARS).

No French region would do worse, except Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, according to the agency.

“We are reaching stratospheric heights.

And we don't know how far we can go, ”recognizes Jean-Jacques Coiplet, director of the ARS Pays-de-la-Loire.

"Remember, there are still three months, we were at incidence rates of 60," he adds.

The positivity rate for screenings is now around 40%.

More than one in three people presenting themselves for an antigen or PCR test therefore inherits a positive result.

All the departments of the region are housed in the same boat, the situation of Sarthe being a little less worrying.

Havoc at school

The number of hospitalizations also continues to rise.

But not that of patients in intensive care (currently 103), which is stable.

“Fortunately there is a dropout of severe forms with the Omicron variant”, observes the ARS.

Even if they usually only suffer from moderate symptoms, unvaccinated children are particularly affected by contamination.

No less than 1,246 classes are thus closed in the Nantes academy, i.e. one class out of 12 on average.

“This is a figure that has doubled in ten days.

The first degree [kindergarten and elementary] is the most disturbed, ”notes the rector of the academy, Wiliam Marois.
