On January 27, the Hong Kong Police Force held a press conference on the overall public security situation in 2021.

Hong Kong Police Commissioner Xiao Zeyi and others attended the press conference and briefed the media on the overall public security situation in Hong Kong in 2021 and the priorities of the Hong Kong Police Force in 2022.

Xiao Zeyi introduced that in 2021, a total of 64,428 crimes were recorded in Hong Kong, a slight increase of 1.9% compared with 2020.

Among them, violent crimes increased by 196, and the overall detection rate rebounded to 38.5%.

He said that overall, the overall security situation in Hong Kong in 2021 will be more stable than in 2020.

The Legislative Council general election was also successfully held.

Compared with other international metropolises, the overall crime rate in Hong Kong has been maintained at a low level.

Although the overall crime number has slightly increased, the number of robbery and burglary has decreased significantly, and the detection rate has also rebounded.

  Xiao Zeyi said that the election of the chief executive is about to be held, and the Hong Kong police will strengthen intelligence collection and conduct risk assessment to ensure that the election will be held in a safe, orderly and stable condition.
