The day before Holocaust Remembrance Day, two elderly men were attacked in the British capital, London.

The two Jews were attacked by an 18-year-old man on the street on Wednesday evening, as a video on social media shows.

It was apparently captured by a surveillance camera.

The neighborhood charity Shomrin, in the Stamford Hill area of north London, published it on Twitter.

The responsible police have already commented on the incident. Accordingly, the attacker was arrested. Chief Inspector Simon Crick said: "On this important day, this is a terrible indication that hate crime persists."

The 42-second clip shows two men with yarmulkes on their heads stepping out of a building into the street.

One of them is on the phone.

Then a man walks by.

He seems to be telling you something.

At least it seems like both of them are reacting to him.

Shortly thereafter, the man turns around and starts hitting the two with his fists and does not stop when one of the two Jewish men tries to stop him from further violence with his foot.

A blow to the chest even causes the Jewish man to fall, whereupon the attacker also attacks the second man.

According to Shomrin, both victims had to be taken to the hospital.

One suffered serious bruises, a broken nose and a broken wrist.

The other victim was also diagnosed with bruises and a wrist and eye injury.

People on social media were shocked by the anti-Semitic incident.

Several users described the attack as "disgusting".

One person wrote: "This is shocking and upsetting.

Lots of love to the victims of this cruel crime!”
