Oita Prefecture announced on the 27th that it was confirmed that 339 new people were infected with the new coronavirus.
A total of 11,930 people have been confirmed infected in the prefecture.
It also means that a person over the age of 80 who was infected with the Omicron strain and was undergoing medical treatment died.
It is the first time in Oita prefecture that a person infected with the Omicron strain has been confirmed dead.
