Almost a month after the killing of two people in Fischerhude near Bremen in Lower Saxony, the 64-year-old suspect admitted the crime.

He confessed to firing the fatal shots at a 73-year-old woman and her 56-year-old son, police said on Thursday.

He also shot a 53-year-old woman and seriously injured her.

After the crime of December 28 in the artists' village on the Wümme, the suspect fled, but turned himself in the next day.

No further information was given on the background.

According to earlier information, the investigators suspect a long-standing dispute.

The injured woman has since been released from the hospital.

The murder commission is still urgently looking for evidence, for example for the missing mobile phones of the dead.

Search operations with sniffer dogs would not have brought any results, nor would the deployment of police divers in the rivers Wümme and Wörpe.
