In Spain, until January 9, 80,109,445 doses of vaccines against Covid have been administered, of which 55,455 adverse events have been reported and 11,048 of them were considered serious, which represents

13.7 cases per 100,000 inoculated doses

.

According to the 12 Pharmacovigilance report on Covid-19 vaccines of the Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (Aemps), serious adverse events are those that

require hospitalization, give rise to significant or persistent disability or congenital malformation, puts life-threatening or fatal

. Of these 11,048 reports of adverse events, 375 had a fatal outcome. However, the Aemps clarifies that

the adverse events that are reported do not mean that they are related to vaccination

.

Disorders related to some vaccines are also identified in the Aemps update report. Thus,

paresthesia

(an irritative-type sensitivity disorder that can occur throughout the body) appears to be a possible adverse reaction to Moderna's vaccine, while

transverse myelitis

(inflammation of the spinal cord) is a likely adverse reaction to Moderna's serums. Astrazeneca and Janssen.

The report states that the most frequently reported adverse effects are those that correspond to

fever or pain in the vaccination area

, disorders of the nervous system (headache and dizziness) and of the musculoskeletal system.

The 80.1 million doses administered, from the start of vaccination and until January 9, correspond to

40.2 million people

.

68% of the doses corresponded to Pfizer, 18% to Moderna, 12% to AstraZeneca and 2% to Janssen. Of the total number of vaccinated, 51% are women.

In terms of age distribution, 69% are between the ages of 18 and 65, 22% are over 65, 6% are minors between the ages of 12 and 17, and 3 % to children under 12 years of age.
