[Commentary] Sanjayja, a Tibetan youth, is an ecological caretaker at the Naka Management Station in Luowa Forest Farm, Jianzha County, Huangnan Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province. His right arm was accidentally involved in a threshing machine when he was young, resulting in amputation. , fall with permanent disability.

This year is the 13th year he has been engaged in the management and protection of forest farms.

[Explanation] There is a forest protection team, 10 management and protection stations, and a 25-mu nursery under the Luowa Forest Farm. The Naka management and protection station has a jurisdiction of nearly 17,000 mu of forest land, mostly pine trees. We need to pay attention to pests and diseases in summer, and mainly pay attention to fire prevention in winter.

[Explanation] During the patrol with Sanjayga, the reporter found that the management and protection work not only requires walking at least four hours in the forest farm at an altitude of 3,000 meters, but also checking the growth of vegetation in the forest farm, whether there is illegal use of fire in the wild, and publicity instructions. Whether the facilities such as card auctions are complete, whether livestock have entered the managed forest land, etc., will then be fully recorded in the work manual and fed back to more professional colleagues for data analysis.

The seeds that fell from the big trees grow on the ground. If the cattle and sheep do not enter, they can germinate naturally. There are many small saplings, which are better than artificial afforestation.

[Commentary] Sanjayga told reporters that because he couldn't ride a motorcycle, he could only walk from the management station to the forest farm in the early years, and he left before dawn in the morning to complete the day's patrol mission.

Now, more and more people join the forest and grass management team, and every patrol can be with colleagues who can ride motorcycles, which is much more convenient than before.

[Commentary] As the Spring Festival is approaching, the weather is dry, which is a critical period for forest protection and fire prevention. The guards will be stationed in the station every day, and the number of patrols will increase accordingly. Sanjayjia recalled the Spring Festival a few years ago. When he observed the forest farm with binoculars , and found that there was thick smoke coming out of the distance, and he could not drive a motorcycle alone, so he took a fire extinguisher and ran to the mountain on foot, and found that the sparks splashed from the nearby villagers when they were simmering mulberry ignited the weeds. Fortunately, it was extinguished in time. The wooded areas behind were not endangered.

This is the tradition of our Tibetans - simmering mulberry. During the Spring Festival, we have to watch for six days and six nights, and wait until all the burning materials of the butter lamp are burnt and the fire is extinguished before we leave.
