The official list of nominees for the 47th Cesar ceremony to be held on February 25 was unveiled on Wednesday.

Guest on Europe Midi, the president of the Academy Véronique Cayla returned to this selection and said a little more about what this evening has in store for us, which will be filled with highlights.

The 47th Cesar ceremony will be held on February 25.

The Academy unveiled this Wednesday the official list of nominees by category for this edition.

The film

Lost Illusions

by Xavier Giannoli has been nominated 15 times, notably for best film and best direction (by way of comparison,

The Artist

  was nominated in ten categories).

This film, which attracted 850,000 spectators in theaters despite the pandemic, is therefore clearly in the lead.

Lost Illusions

, "a gamble for production"

Its main actor, Benjamin Voisin, is also named in the category "best male hope".

For the producer of the film Olivier Delbosc, the bet was a winner.

"All the same, it was a bet for the production and the staging that the leading role be played by an actor who we had hardly ever seen in the cinema. But Xavier insisted that around there be a real troupe, like the theatrical tradition, with real actors", he explains at the microphone of Europe 1. "It's quite rare that there are two actors from the same film in the same category so it rewards above all the facts and the gang will that Xavier wanted around his film."

Also followed are

Annette

, the musical tale by Leos Carax, with 11 nominations, and

 Aline

, the heavily fictionalized biopic about Celine Dion directed by Valérie Lemercier.

A fairly balanced selection that tends towards social films, as we see in particular with

Bac Nord

,

La fracture

and

Les Olympiades.

Finally, two big surprises should be noted in this selection:

Titane,

awarded the Palme d'or at Cannes which only counts four nominations, and the absence of the film

Kaamelott

, which was the best market in France with more than 2 million spectators.

"Three best female directors, the icing on the cake"

Invited to Europe Midi, the president of the Académie des César Véronique Cayla returned to this list and explained that she felt a real enthusiasm this year around the Césars.

“The participation rate was much higher than in previous years with 67%,” she observed.

"We are very happy to see that among the first three films, there are both auteur films and mainstream films and icing on the cake, in the category of best films we have three female directors."

She said that particularly strong moments are to be expected throughout this ceremony.

"We will already have Cate Blanchett who will present an honorary César, and then Danièle Thompson, the president of this 47th edition who will allow us to highlight someone who has distinguished himself both in auteur cinema and in mainstream cinema," she said.

"Finally there will also be more advanced films like those of Audrey Diwan who was decorated for her talent. Without forgetting our master of ceremonies Antoine de Caunes."
