Pakistan is the world's fourth largest milk producer.

35 to 40 million people depend on dairy production in Pakistan.

This demographic giant with a population of 220 million people, is also one of the main consumers of dairy products.

Production is essentially artisanal and largely escapes health control.

80% of milk is purchased in bulk and untreated.

A boon for producers and villainous dealers… but also for farmers trying to survive inflation and face shrinking profits.

Some resort to unscrupulous methods to increase the volume of the precious liquid.

"The milk scam in Pakistan, a health disaster", a great report by Sonia Ghezali and Shahzaib Wahlah.
