He refused the accusation of Mona Zaki of insulting the image of Egyptian women

Tariq Al-Shennawi: Faten Hamama played the traitorous wife, and no one attacked her

Egyptian film critic Tarek El-Shennawy confirmed his rejection of the accusations leveled against the artist, Mona Zaki, of insulting the image and character of the Egyptian woman through her role in the movie "Ashab wa Wal Aziz".

He stressed that the character of an Egyptian woman cannot be reduced to a role in a work of art.

He added, "Mona Zaki played an artistic role only, and it is illogical to link this role to the image of Egyptian women in general. Earlier, the artist, Faten Hamama, presented the character of the woman who betrays her husband in the movie "The River of Love", and no one accused her of insulting the Egyptian woman, as well as the artist presented Hamdi Ahmed is the character of Mahgoub Abdel-Dayem in the movie “Cairo 30”, who appeared as a pimp who takes advantage of his wife’s relationships in order to advance in his work and no one accused him of insulting the image of the Egyptian man, and there are many similar roles that have passed in the history of Egyptian cinema, but no one has met her like this attack.

Al-Shennawi pointed out that Arab societies in general have a clear confusion between artistic criticism, insults and public slander.

This is evidenced by the lawsuits he faces.

Al-Shennawy said, during a symposium entitled "Art Criticism", which was held this afternoon, Tuesday, as part of the activities of the fourth session of the Al Ain Film Festival, which will be held from January 23 to 27, and the seminar was presented by the festival's director general, Amer Salmin: A report by the Egyptian Public Prosecutor against me, and the ruling in another judicial dispute against me to fine me 100,000 pounds as compensation. Or his honor or his reason, we avoid confronting those we work in the press."

Last December, the October Misdemeanour Court had issued a ruling to fine Al-Shennawi and the journalist Raghda Shalhoub, presenter of the “Ness Al-Kalam” program, 15,000 pounds each, on charges of insulting and slandering Moez Masoud, the young preacher, and his wife, Hala Shiha, and paying 100,000 pounds. as temporary civil compensation.

As previously, the head of the Syndicate of Musical Professions in Egypt, artist Hani Shaker, submitted a complaint to the Attorney General, against El-Shennawy, claiming that El-Shennawy had abused him on television programs, and through his journalistic writings, after Shaker’s decisions regarding festival singers, in which he demanded that festival singers change their names, where the defendant decided against him The last scene of art became random, and Hani Shaker insulted Egyptian art.
