• For four days, Nicole Ferroni will read poems in ten bars in Marseille, at the invitation of the Théâtre du Gymnase.

  • These texts, of his own composition and of Marseille authors, all speak of the Marseille city.

  • A way to reach another audience.

Verses declaimed between two glasses of pastis and a long coffee.

This is the program of comedian Nicole Ferroni for the next few days in Marseille, who will read texts in verse of her own and by Marseille authors in various bars and cafes in the city, from Wednesday to Sunday, to customers who come to ask on the terrace at breakfast, snack or aperitif time.

"I accepted because I am an alcoholic and I was looking for a way to drink for free in the bars of Marseille", jokes Nicole Ferroni.

More seriously, the artist created “It's my tour, I offer you a verse” as part of the “Aller vers” operation at the Théâtre du Gymnase.

During the time of its closure for works, the Marseille theater organizes performances in various unusual places.

“The idea is to go where the public is,” explains Dominique Bluzet, director of the Gymnasium theatre.

After asking Muriel Mayette-Holtz for a first operation of this kind, I thought of Nicole Ferroni, because she has a real talent for writing, a special relationship with the public and she is from here.

From Edmond Rostand to Jul

The comedian, originally from Aubagne, has indeed walked his first scenes in the region.

"I started the theater at the MJC in Aubagne, and my first writing experience, as an author, I experienced with slam, in a Marseille bar that no longer exists, "Le Paradoxe", rue from Aubagne, recalls Nicole Ferroni.

I am coming full circle, because these are the bars that allowed me to write.

It's a bit of a throwback.

To put on this somewhat special show, and completely free, Nicole Ferroni wrote texts, which she decided to mix with poems evoking Marseille written by other local poets, from Edmond Rostand to Joseph Autran... and the incomparable Jul.

“I grouped the texts into five themes, explains Nicole Ferroni.

The first is a special "Marseille Women", which highlights both Marseille authors and great figures of the city, such as the cagole or the Good Mother.

A second theme evokes the misfortunes of Marseille, where I have included texts that I wrote on the collapse of the rue d'Aubagne or the attack on the Saint-Charles station.

I also have a part on the rebellious side of Marseille, and finally a last group of texts on clichés about the city, postcard version.

"At aperitif time, it's possible that it's sporty!"

»

And to confide: “To perform in bars is both exhilarating and a source of apprehension.

On the one hand, I like the idea of going to preach to an audience that is not always convinced.

I hope that among the people who are there, a part did not plan to hear me.

But I imagine it will be quieter in the morning than at cocktail hour, when the performance may be somewhat sporty!

At the Café de la Banque, where Nicole Ferroni will perform this Thursday from 8:30 a.m., the artist's arrival is already arousing the curiosity of customers.

"People tell me about it and really want to come," smiles Arnaud Lafargue, owner of this bar-restaurant in the sixth arrondissement of Marseille.

They are very surprised to have this animation with us.

And for us, that's a great plus.

For a person of this renown to come to us, it's super rewarding, and for the customers, it's very exciting.

It allows a fire start for the day!

In total, Nicole Ferroni will perform in ten bars in the city.
