The Mossos d'Esquadra have been investigating since this Sunday the alleged theft of
two Dalí drawings from a flat in Barcelona
, according to 'La Vanguardia'.
The drawings are, according to experts, "Les sardanes de festa major" and "Vi ranci" (1922), two
charcoal drawings
on paper from the early days of Salvador Dalí.
Although neither the Dalí Foundation nor the Police have wanted to make an economic assessment of the stolen works, the family, according to sources close to the case, would have assured that each of them is valued at around
300,000 euros
, according to Efe.
Police sources have explained that the Mossos d'Esquadra received the notice around 5:15 p.m., when the tenants of a flat in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi neighborhood reported that they
had broken into their house
and had taken the paintings, according to Europa Press .
Upon arrival, the agents verified that
access to the house had been forced
, and the Criminal Investigation Division (DIC) began the investigation to clarify the facts and confirm the authenticity of the stolen paintings.
The stolen works were part of a
group of four illustrations
made in 1922 by a young 18-year-old Dalí for a deluxe edition of the book "Les gràcies de l'Empordà" by the Barcelona-born politician and writer of Empordà parents Pere Corominas ( Barcelona, 1870-Buenos Aires, 1939) that was never published.
