New Zealand Prime Minister: I am no different from others .. I will cancel my wedding because of Corona!

New Zealand Prime Minister cancels her wedding due to Omicron restrictions

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said today she has canceled her wedding due to new restrictions imposed to slow the spread of the mutated Omicron strain of coronavirus in society.

Ardern said that New Zealand will tighten measures within the framework of protection from Covid-19, with greater use of masks, and not allowing more than 100 people in hospitality and events held in closed places such as weddings, or 25 people if places do not require vaccination permits.

"My wedding will not take place," the prime minister assured reporters, adding that she regretted anyone with whom such circumstances had occurred.

When asked by reporters how she felt about canceling her wedding, Ardern said: "This is life... I am no different from thousands of other New Zealanders who have suffered much more devastating effects due to the pandemic, most importantly not being able to be with a family member sometimes when they are seriously ill. This Far more than any sadness I feel."

New Zealand will impose the use of masks and limit gatherings from midnight today, after nine cases of the Omicron strain of the Corona virus have proven to be transmitted from the northern to southern islands.
