What can happen if you imagine the discussion between a prime minister and a preacher on the mount in the early 1990s?

What can you find when you leaf through the photo album after a reading in the private guest room of a prefab apartment?

What does it mean when your own characters continue to write overnight?

And when will a second cash register finally be opened in the supermarket?

In nine volumes now, Gerhard Henschel, who comes from a family who loves to write – some say “writes sick” – tells the story of the life of Martin Schlosser, a character who is not entirely dissimilar to the author.

His horror novel takes place in 1992 and 1993.

On October 28, Gerhard Henschel celebrated the premiere of the book in the Literaturhaus Hamburg.

It was moderated by Andreas Platthaus.

The solution to the December literature puzzle, the announcement of the winner and a new puzzle conclude this special episode of the book podcast.

“Schauerroman” by Gerhard Henschel was published by Hoffmann und Campe, has 592 pages and costs 26 euros.

Every Sunday morning, the FAZ books podcast alternately publishes talks about books and topics, interviews with authors, readings, literary puzzles and recitations from the Frankfurt anthology.
