World Cup 2022: the draw for the play-off matches of the African zone

The draw for the play-off matches for the African zone qualifiers for the World Cup in Qatar.

The Confederation of African Football has conducted this Saturday, January 22 in Douala draw dams for qualification to the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Very nice meeting looming with shocks such as Egypt or Senegal-Cameroon-Algeria.

Initially scheduled for last December, this draw for the play-off matches for the qualification for the World Cup finally took place this Saturday in Douala on the sidelines of the African Cup of Nations.

Togolese Emmanuel Adebayor and Senegalese El-Hadji Diouf made the trip to draw.

Ten teams are still in contention for qualification following the second round.

The teams were divided into two pots according to their Fifa ranking.

In pot 1, we found Senegal, Algeria, Nigeria, Morocco and Tunisia.

In the second pot were Egypt, Cameroon, Ghana, DR Congo and Mali.

This draw has in any case given rise to superb posters with in particular two highly anticipated clashes: Egypt-Senegal and Cameroon-Algeria.

The other matches are nonetheless particularly enticing with Ghana – Nigeria, DR Congo – Morocco and Mali – Tunisia.

The matches will be played on the format of home and away matches.

The team that wins both matches will validate its ticket for the World Cup in Qatar.
