It is a pride for the municipality to host this event that will place it on the international map and that will help to continue increasing the arrival of tourists to its streets. One of those tourists who not only look for the beach or the mountains on their vacations, but rather allow themselves to be seduced by the inland towns and by new proposals of a more cultural or artistic nature. And it is that after two years of pandemic, the population is eager to go out, discover, meet and travel.

This new claim joins the gastronomy of Plasencia, its heritage and other attractions that have helped the area to be increasingly visited in recent years.

In fact, along with cities like Vigo, Plasencia is one of the cities that has welcomed the most tourists since the pandemic compared to previous years.

Now, "The Ages of Man" will also facilitate job creation not only in the city, but throughout Extremadura.

Bring medieval works closer to the public

"The Ages of Man" will become this 2022 the great tourist stimulus that Plasencia has been demanding for years.

Under the slogan "Transitus", in this edition, the exhibition can be visited for seven months and its inauguration is scheduled for the month of April.

The Cathedral of Plasencia hosts the XXVI edition of "The Ages of Man" under the motto "Transitus", focusing on the passage of time and the transformations

The Cathedral will stop offering liturgical acts at that time and its use will be totally expository and cultural.

The surroundings of the cathedral will experience it in the same way.

In addition, this international event will share the limelight with another great event: the centenary of the trip that Alfonso XXIII made to Las Hurdes, an important territory for Plasencia and the Community.

The poster that has been designed for the XXVI edition of the exhibition is extracted from the manuscript "Description of the city and bishopric of Palencia" by Luis de Toro, a document that dates from the year 1573 and that is usually kept at the University of Salamanca. It is the first time in the history of this event -which has crossed borders on more than one occasion- that a city is also the protagonist of a poster that, together with the motto, reflects transformation, passing and change. The medieval Plasencia will be seen in all the posters prepared for the occasion.

The investment that Plasencia is going to make so that "The Ages of Man" is a highly successful event is so strong that it is estimated that visitors and overnight stays in the city will triple.

According to Fernando Pizarro, the town's mayor, "the consequences for tourism will be enormous."

The 2021 edition closed with more than 200,000 visitors.

There is a before and after in the municipalities where "The Ages of Man" has passed, or so the twenty-five previous venues say.

Plasencia will say.
