The Ministry of Defense has decided to dispatch two additional transport aircraft of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force in order to quickly deliver relief supplies such as drinking water to Tonga, which was damaged by the large-scale eruption of a submarine volcano.

To support Tonga, two Air Self-Defense Force C130 transport aircraft carrying approximately 5,000 liters of drinking water departed from Komaki base in Aichi prefecture on the 20th.



One of these will arrive in eastern Australia on the afternoon of the 21st and will enter Tonga on the 22nd to deliver drinking water.



The Ministry of Defense has decided to dispatch two additional C2 transport aircraft from the Air Self-Defense Force Miho Air Base in Tottori Prefecture in order to deliver relief supplies to the site as quickly as possible.



One will depart as early as the 22nd and the other on the 23rd, transporting drinking water and high-pressure washers to remove volcanic ash, respectively.



In addition, the Ministry of Defense has decided to dispatch the transport ship "Osumi" to the site to send relief supplies such as high pressure washers, and will start as soon as it is ready.
