A 23-year-old Vietnamese studying abroad from the Vietnamese Army at the National Defense Academy in Japan was arrested on suspicion of violating the Immigration Control and Refuge Act for handing over a residence card to a person he met on SNS.

The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating suspected misuse of mobile phone contracts used by special fraud groups.

The person arrested was Do Tuan Gia, 23, who belongs to the Vietnamese Army and is studying abroad at the National Defense Academy.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, there is a suspicion of violating the Immigration Control and Refuge Act, alleging that he handed over his residence card to a Vietnamese in his 20s who he met on SNS last February.

When I saw a post on SNS asking for a residence card saying "I will pay 200,000 yen", I contacted him, and he said to the investigation, "I wanted a brand-name product, but I sold it because I didn't have the money." It means that he admits the suspicion.

Since it was confirmed that three mobile phones were contracted using the suspect's residence card, the Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the details of the suspected misuse by a special fraud group.
