Social networking sites in Saudi Arabia circulated a video clip showing a mouse standing on a shawarma skewer in a restaurant in Saudi Arabia and eating from it.
Al-Arabiya channel said that the Municipality of Jeddah closed a restaurant in the Al-Baghdadiya neighborhood in Jeddah, after the spread of the clip, which showed an explicit violation of environmental health and hygiene regulations.
The channel quoted informed sources as saying that the Jeddah Municipality applied the most severe penalties to the violating restaurant, according to the municipal sanctions list approved by the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing.
It is reported that nutrition experts had warned, earlier, that “shawarma is considered among the most dangerous types of food in the world and is a source of many pathogenic microbes that live in white or red meat, according to the “Al-Watan” website, which indicated that they say that foods Cooked at a temperature between 5 to 60 degrees Celsius is dangerous, because microbes are active between these two levels.
The site says that the temperature of shawarma is mostly between these two degrees, which means that it represents an appropriate environment that does not kill germs that can be transmitted to humans when eaten.
