In response to the rapid spread of the new coronavirus infection, Fukushima Prefecture plans to request the government to apply "priority measures such as prevention of spread" at the beginning of the week.

In Fukushima Prefecture, the number of newly infected people per day exceeds 100 for two consecutive days, and the bed usage rate exceeds 30%.

In response to this situation, the prefecture has decided to request the national government to apply "priority measures such as prevention of spread" at the meeting of the new coronavirus countermeasures headquarters to be held on the evening of the 21st.

It is expected that the request to the national government will be made at the beginning of the week, and we are coordinating with Minamisoma City, which implements the prefecture's own intensive measures, and Iwaki City, where the infection is spreading, as the target area, and Koriyama. We are considering whether to include the city.

The government plans to continue to analyze the infection status and bed usage rate in each region, promptly consider any requests from local governments to apply priority measures, and make a decision in the first half of next week.
