"Light up the central axis" bell and drum tower section lights up

Adjust the brightness and color temperature according to the traditional time, and determine the lighting effect of residential houses in the commercial street

Climb the Drum Tower and look south to the Wanchun Pavilion of Jingshan Mountain. A bright light strip extends straight to the south, creating a festive and joyful atmosphere.

Last night, the Xicheng section of the "Lighting the Central Axis" landscape lighting improvement project was officially lit.

The light belt is 1.8 kilometers long, with the Bell and Drum Tower as the core, covering the Old Drum Tower Street and Di'anmenwai Street.

Warm lanterns add luster to the upcoming Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger.

At 8 o'clock last night, the traffic and lights on the central axis were outlined by warm yellow lights, showing the simple and elegant beauty of the old city.

The houses and shops on both sides of Old Gulou Street and Di'anmenwai Street seem to be covered with a little "starlight" under the light, which is clear but not dazzling.

"It's officially lit at last." "Light up the central axis" Hu Yi, the landscape lighting designer of the Xicheng section, looked at the lighted strip and sighed softly.

For the 1.8 kilometers of lighting, she and her team of designers worked countless days and nights.

As part of the entire "Lighting the Central Axis" landscape lighting project, the Xicheng section belongs to the traditional style section of the central axis.

According to the design goals, it is necessary to "light up" the continuous culture and highlight the charm of the capital; "light up" the pattern of the ridge of the capital to enlarge the highlights of the city; "light up" the Beijing-style life and enhance the experience of host and guests.

The goal is clear and how to visualize abstract concepts has become the task for Hu Yi and his colleagues to complete.

According to the design plan, the entire "Light Up the Central Axis" landscape lighting improvement project is divided into 6 core building groups, with 6 scene stories: Yongdingmen area "Jiangshan Yongding", Zhengyangmen area "Beijing rhythm prosperous", Tiananmen area "Solemn and magnificent", "Magnificent Forbidden" in the Jingshan area of the Forbidden City, "Time and Space" in the Bell and Drum Tower area, and "Splendid Times" in the Olympic Tower area.

In the end, the effect of "one axis, the center of the country; six borders, broad and harmonious" is formed.

Among them, the Xicheng section is located in the Bell and Drum Tower area, and the theme is "time and space flow".

The four words seem simple, but it is not easy to fully reflect them.

How can we use lighting to reflect the beauty of Beijing's morning bells and twilight drums and the replacement of time spanning Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties?

In the daily survey and research, Hu Yi and his colleagues thought that the flow of time needs to be measured by "scale", and the best "scale" is the traditional Chinese "hour".

"We integrate the concept of twelve o'clock into the design, and connect people's life with time through color temperature adjustment," said Hu Yi.

Specifically, starting from the unitary time (17:00 to 19:00), according to the chronological order, through Xu Shi, Hai Shi, Zi Shi, based on warm yellow, to achieve slight changes in color temperature and brightness.

Due to the different functional positioning of Di'anmenwai Street and Jiugulou Street in history, the lighting effects are also different.

Hu Yi introduced that Di'anmenwai Street is a quaint and prosperous commercial area, so when the lights are on, the shops are highlighted; the old Gulou Street is a quiet and peaceful residential area, and the houses are highlighted when the lights are on.

Not only that, in order to save the old, save energy and protect the environment, LED lights with antique structure and small size are used for lighting.

According to the system of hanging cornices of buildings along the street, some lighting decorations are hidden behind, and strive to achieve the effect of seeing the light but not the light, and to maximize the appearance of the central axis.

In addition, in order to show the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the Xicheng section, the designers and the Shichahai Fujing Street Headquarters decided after discussions to maximize the use of the existing light poles and use the method of light projection to light up the central axis in some sections to avoid light pollution.
