A two-million-pound businessman was defrauded by the “Corona refrigerators” hoax.

The Egyptian police revealed the details of the fraud against a businessman in Giza, in the amount of 2 million pounds, under the pretext of investing in the purchase of advanced refrigerators, to preserve Corona vaccines, and selling them for amounts amounting to 15 million pounds.


According to the investigations, the defendants got to know the businessman through the social networking site “Facebook”, as they noticed, by talking to him, that he has a great wealth, and he wants to invest it in profitable projects, so they told him that they are currently importing advanced refrigerators to store vaccines, and they will supply them to the Ministry of Health and the concerned authorities.

Subsequently, the victim interviewed the accused and handed them over the amount, then discovered that they had turned off their phones, defrauded him, and disappeared completely, so the victim wrote a report accusing them of fraud and fraud.

The investigations stated, according to the Egyptian "Al-Watan", that it was reported to the Maadi Police Department in the Cairo Security Directorate from a citizen, residing in Giza, that he was exposed to a fraud by two people and did not know their data, and that he seized a sum of money of 2 million pounds, under the pretext of buying special refrigerators to preserve the Corona virus vaccine. And they disappeared after they got the money.

By conducting investigations and collecting information, it was found that the incident was true, and that it was committed by the owner of a paper products shop, a resident of Qalyubia governorate, and another resident of Alexandria governorate.

The suspects were arrested while they were in the Qasr al-Nil Police Department when they were riding in the "Malek Al Awal" car, and they had 4 mobile phones in their possession. Defrauding him, seizing sums of money from him, and for this they made him illusion to buy refrigerators for preserving the Corona virus vaccine, and they obtained from him the sum of money and so he fled.

They added that by spending the seized money on their personal requirements, buying the seized car and mobile phones, and buying an apartment in the Shubra El-Kheima area in Qalyubia, and by summoning the victim, he identified the accused, and accused them of defrauding him.
