The eleventh season of

The Voice

will soon be launched on TF1.

If the quartet of coaches - Amel Bent, Marc Lavoine, Florent Pagny, Vianney - remains unchanged from the previous edition, several changes and novelties will be there.

Here is what we learned during the (virtual) press conference held this Thursday.

The Nolwenn Surprise

Neither the talents nor the coaches were aware during the filming of the blind auditions at the end of December: Nolwenn Leroy is the surprise coach of the season. "We managed to keep this little merry-go-round secret," rejoices Pascal Guix, the show's artistic director, who explains that this idea was born out of a "frustration" by Florent Pagny. "When we didn't take certain talents and we discovered by turning around that they were kids who were singing like a 40-year-old adult, we said to ourselves that we had perhaps made mistakes", summarizes the singer. “The coaches listen to 120 talents in blind auditions and only keep fourteen. They sometimes have regrets, ”underlines the artistic producer.

Concretely, once the blind auditions were over, Nolwenn watched the performances of the 54 candidates who were not selected and picked four of them, which she then divided into two duels and coached them. During the recording of the battles, which began on Wednesday, the singer designated the two winners of her two battles. The lucky ones returned to the adventure within the team of one of the four coaches… “It was a lot of emotion, testifies Amel Bent. The people who were reinjected into the game, we were happy to see them, we immediately regretted not having kept them. »

“This principle of the fifth coach has existed in other forms, especially on digital, in foreign versions of

The Voice

, but we really adapted it because it is not a parallel competition, but integrated into the broadcast season. on TV,” said Pascal Guix.

KOs definitely KOs

In recent seasons, the knockout stage followed the battles stage.

It consisted in carrying out a new cream skimming within each team, to reduce by half the number of talents, and gave rise to a sort of stressful and trying game of musical chairs.

Besides, each coach adapted the rules in his own way and this was, in our opinion, one of the weak points of season 10. The production of

The Voice

decided to do without it for this new season.

Amel Bent was thus relieved that the event was not renewed.

“This means that as soon as we have finished the battles, we no longer decide anything, except for the talents that will compete during the cross battles.

Indeed, during his cross-battles, it is no longer the coaches who have the last word, but the public present around the set.

The “super cross battles”

During the previous season, the "cross battles" event was successfully introduced.

An entire program was devoted to these duels between talents from different teams.

A coach designated a talent from his team, then another coach chose a candidate from his own to face him.

The hundred spectators present decided between them by voting via a box.

The winner of each duel continued his journey in telecrochet, the other was eliminated.

The device is renewed this year and it will be followed by the "super cross battles", the rules are the same: it will therefore be the cream of the crop who will fight in song to win a place in the semi-finals.
