One of the biggest names in 20th-century literature, the author of 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' and Nobel Prize in Literature, Gabriel García Márquez, had a secret: a hidden girl out of wedlock, now 31 year.

These are the revelations of a Colombian journalist, eight years after the death of the author.

It's a well-kept secret, until now.

Eight years after his death, a Colombian journalist reveals that the famous writer and Nobel laureate in literature Gabriel García Márquez had a hidden daughter, a secret jealously guarded by those close to him.

A secret discovered by a journalist

Today, Indira is 31 years old and a film producer.

She is the daughter of Susana Cato, a journalist who had interviewed the writer then collaborated with him in the writing of screenplays but above all maintained an extramarital relationship. 

Shortly before his death, the Colombian journalist Gustavo Tatis hears about this rumor.

In his article entitled "A girl: the best kept secret of Gabriel García Márquez", Gustavo Tatis explains that he interviewed the biographer of the master, some members of his family and his best friends.

The rumor is confirmed, the Nobel Prize for Literature does indeed have a hidden daughter.

But out of respect for his wife, with whom he remained married for almost fifty years, the journalist in turn keeps the secret.

He will wait for the death of Mercedes Bacha which occurred in August 2020 to make these revelations. 

The Nobel Prize for Literature once uttered this enigmatic phrase: "Every writer has three lives, one public or private and one secret."
