For the moment, it is an experiment started this Thursday in Villeurbanne.
The metropolis of Lyon has trained about twenty sworn agents whose mission will be to penalize and verbalize non-compliance with the collection and sorting of waste.
“Too often, this translates into trash bags thrown away in bulk near collection points, contents of non-compliant gray and yellow bins or, for some professionals, exceeding the authorized weekly volume of waste”, exposes the community. .
These agents will be empowered to search for and record violations.
“It is in particular a question of targeting the main black spots already identified by the collection agents”, argues the metropolis of Lyon.
Offenders will initially be notified by mail or directly in the field.
In the event of a repeat offence, they will be fined 35 euros for a natural person, or 175 euros for a legal person (lessors and trustees of co-ownerships).
The experiment is set to be gradually extended to the entire metropolitan territory.
