George Martin, the legendary producer of the Beatles, was not immediately convinced by the group.

This is what we learn in a new video, shared by his own son, Giles, on Twitter.

We see the man who discovered the Fab Four in the middle of a discussion with his granddaughter, to whom he explains his reaction when he heard the name of the group for the first time.

“Okay, that's a silly name.

Who would want to listen to a band called the Beatles?

explains George Martin to the child: beetle means beetle in French.

But he didn't stop at this bad first impression and agreed to listen to their music.

“When I listened to what they were doing, it was good, but it wasn't brilliant.

It was good, you see.

So I thought, why should I care about this?

“, he acknowledged.

The encounter

But everything changed when he decided to go further and finally meet Paul McCartney, George Harrison, John Lennon and Ringo Starr.

“The magic happened when I got to know them, because they were terribly good people to know.

They were funny, very smart…and they were the kind of people you like to be with.

And I thought if I felt that for them, other people would feel that for them.

And that therefore, they were going to be popular,” he explained.

The least we can say is that George Martin, nicknamed "The Fifth Beatles", had a nose!

“Ordinary people do extraordinary things.

Big decisions are made for the simplest reasons,” Giles Martin wrote on Twitter to explain why he chose to post this video.

George Martin died in March 2016, aged 90.
