Ayman Zeidan: Life in this country has become unbearable

The well-known Syrian artist, Ayman Zeidan, wrote on his Facebook account a post in which he expressed his asceticism in life, which has become intolerable.

He said, "I can no longer stand life here... Everything around me weighs my soul... I am tired... Life in this wounded homeland has become unbearable... it is no longer a wounded homeland only, but its wounds are filled with pus."

He added: "These were his last words when he made his decision to leave... He filled his bag with his things and the faces of his loved ones and echoed his steps in the alleys and paths... He closed the bag with a bloody heart, but he could not move from its place even an iota .. Suddenly he realized that his feet were sunken in this earth. He was unable to rip his roots out of the soil of his memories, so he remained silent, sheltering the shadow of the ancient oak.

Zaidan had recently mourned a close friend of his by publishing his picture, saying: "Two days passed and his image resides in me.. I know that death is true and I believe in time, but I could not tear from my soul the mountains of sadness over his passing.. Farewell, Ayman.. O good Damascene, how much I miss you."
