The Emirate of Sharjah is preparing to start the activities of the largest festival of its kind in the region and the Middle East;

The International Festival of Photography (Exposure), which will receive, during the period from 9 to 15 February, at Expo Center Sharjah, 70 creative, influential and experienced photographers and stories from the best photographers in the world, to tell through 45 individual and collective exhibitions, and through more than 63 sessions and workshops, stories from Far away worlds, adventures by photographers who traveled between major events around the world, alerting the human community to the most important issues that concern the future of the planet and humanity.

In its sixth edition, the festival invites opinion leaders and activists in the field of ocean and sea protection to attend and participate in the “environmental summit” organized by the festival for the first time, in which global change makers and photographers gather under the slogan (to save the oceans), to launch an appeal to the whole world, aimed at mobilizing efforts To raise awareness of the danger of pollution of the seas and oceans, the festival is also witnessing for the first time the announcement of the names of the winners of the "Independent Press Photographer Award", which was created in last year's session of the festival, in addition to the announcement of the winners of the International Xposure Awards for Photography.

This came during a press conference organized by the Sharjah Government Media Office this morning (Thursday), at Al Majaz Theatre. .

The Environment Summit, which will be held in cooperation with the World Association of Environmental Photographers, invites the public and photographers to join their voice with the voices of environmental activists and photographers specializing in marine life. It will witness the organization of 9 discussion sessions, during which participants present solutions and proposals that will preserve and protect the environment.

After receiving nearly 15,000 participants in its awards, the festival celebrates a world of talent and creative photographers, as the entries came from 126 countries, with a total growth of 58% over the five years of the festival's launch, and the followers stand before competitions among hundreds of exceptional artworks.

The audience is waiting for the opportunity to see a variety of images in various fields taken by photographers from around the world, where the festival awards were distributed in 10 categories: architectural photography, aerial photography (drones), portraiture photography, children’s category, short films and motion pictures, photography trips, photography Landscapes, wildlife, photojournalism, and the category of Sharjah government employees. The names of international photographers with a long history and experience in photography and judging international photographic awards were behind the evaluation of the works participating in these categories. The jury gathered 21 international photographers.

The festival will reveal one of the most creative images taken by an independent photographer, as it will reveal the name of the winner of the "Independent Photojournalist Award", which is the latest initiative of the festival, announced by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and Chairman of the Sharjah Media Council, In the last session of the festival, in appreciation of the efforts of professional photojournalists in conveying and documenting world events with their images, and their bearing of the risks that they may be exposed to from the heart of disasters, conflicts and wars, and it constitutes an opportunity to bring about positive change in the world, so that the festival becomes a gateway that calls for peace.

The first-place winner will receive a prize of $15,000, while the second-place winner will receive an exhibition space to display his work at the Exposure Festival.

The festival holds 25 training and educational workshops specialized in visual arts, for beginners and professionals, presented by a group of professional photographers, which constitutes a platform for knowledge that enhances the experiences of those interested in the world of photography and develops their creative skills.
