[Commentary] Learn the sound for the children's musical instruments, accompany them to practice in sequence, and organize everyone to rehearse the program together... Every weekend and holiday, in the Shuyou Music Square in Jiantouzhou Village, Liling, Hunan, you can always hear the array In a pleasant folk music ensemble, I saw Li Shuyou, the founder of the band, in his busy schedule.

Just after the winter vacation, 78-year-old Li Shuyou brought his Liling City Children's National Orchestra, and rehearsed his original song here, "Happy Baby on Jiantou Island", attracting many villagers to come and watch.

Li Shuyou told reporters that he began to play folk music at the age of 7. He can play more than ten kinds of musical instruments. He once worked in the military art troupe, and also served as the head of the Liling City Huagu Drama Troupe.

After retiring and returning to his hometown in 2015, he found that many left-behind children in the village were accompanied by mobile phones all the time, so he wanted to use music to influence the children and let them grow up healthily.

So, he founded the "Shuyou Music Square", and at his own expense, he transformed the house into a music classroom, purchased a batch of musical instruments, and taught the village children folk music for free, hoping that they would pass on this.

The musical instruments I teach are all unpopular instruments, such as Ruan, Sheng, Bamboo Flute, Erhu, Liuqin, Sanxian... I pay attention to the popularity of such instruments.

Because what I do is a public welfare activity, I don't charge any money, and I can give it to you if you don't have a musical instrument.

I decided, I said that this musical instrument is an excellent tradition of the Chinese nation, and the traditional musical instrument must be developed by someone, so that it will not be forgotten.

[Commentary] Li Shuyou said that music is an emotional language, and every musical instrument has its own characteristics.

There are many kinds of traditional ethnic musical instruments and they are easy to learn. Left-behind children in the village who did not know these musical instruments at first can arouse their interest in music by slowly cultivating them after being exposed to them.

After several years of hard work, he has more than 100 students in the village.

Last year, he also donated 40 erhus to a local primary school, and set up bamboo flute and erhu classes in local primary and secondary schools, hoping to train more folk music successors.

The 16-year-old Ding Jiewen is Li Shuyou's favorite student. She began to study sanxian with Li Shuyou at the age of 10. Now she has been admitted to an art school and has won many awards in competitions.

She told reporters that from the beginning, she only knew one, two, three, four and five, but not Do Re Mi Fa Sol, and now she can play two instruments, sanxian and pipa. She is very grateful to Mr. Li for his teaching.

He (Li Shuyou) did not charge us tuition fees and taught us piano practice very seriously.

Through these 6 years of study, I feel that folk music has become an indispensable part of my life.

[Commentary] Today, Li Shuyou is still learning professional knowledge continuously, insisting on practicing musical instruments, composing music and writing lyrics every day.

He said frankly that the children in the village are more and more fond of traditional folk music, and every holiday they will rush to come to the music workshop to practice.

Although it was very hard to teach the children, their innocence and cuteness deeply moved him and became the spiritual pillar of his life.

In the future, he hopes that more caring people will join his team to protect the musical dreams of rural children.

I am rushing to promote the culture and spiritual civilization of this village, and promote the local economic work through my instrumental music.

At a certain time, which is my dream, I really want to make this a school, manage these children well, and attract some of my peers and caring people to come.
