Military widens search area in Jubillar case

• On Monday, new large-scale excavations began in Cagnac-les-Mines to try to find the body of Delphine Jubillar.

• More than a year after the disappearance of the nurse, and seven months after the indictment of her husband for "murder", the investigators rake an area near a farm that burned down.

• According to a fellow prisoner who says he received Cédric Jubillar's confession, this is where he buried his wife's body in December 2020.

On Monday, the gendarmes launched an extensive excavation campaign in Cagnac-les-Mines (Tarn) and its surroundings, with the aim of finding the body of Delphine Jubillar, who disappeared on the night of December 15 to 16, 2020. On the third day of this search campaign in a very rugged area which mobilizes no less than a hundred people, the soldiers have enlarged the area where they are probing the ground.

Equipped with a rotary cutter, this Wednesday the soldiers were visible at the bottom of a valley, and almost all the shrubs in the raked area had been cut down.

“There was a lot of ground preparation.

The targeted area was cleared before the dogs passed,” a source close to the investigation told AFP.

“Today, it is the turn of a specialized team with detection devices, geodetic radars and metal detectors which participate in the excavations”, she continued.

On Monday and Tuesday, investigators focused on an area below a farm.

Then the big white tent, set up by the soldiers, was moved this morning to the bottom of the valley.

Distrust of a lawyer from the family of Delphine Jubillar

This site arouses particular attention because it is there that Cédric Jubillar, in detention since last June for the murder of his wife, could have buried his wife's body according to the statements of a fellow prisoner. The latter would have received the confessions of the plasterer during his stay in detention, at the Seysses remand center. A sector which had already been partly searched in the weeks following the disappearance of Delphine Jubillar. And which appeared in the file for several months according to the lawyers of Cédric Jubillar.

For his part, Philippe Pressecq, the lawyer for the cousin of the disappeared, remains suspicious of the hypothesis of finding the body of Delphine Jubillar near this farm, because according to him, the plasterer "manipulates everyone from the start" .

Monday, a spokeswoman for the gendarmerie region of Occitanie indicated to

that these searches could last "several days, even weeks".
