"We didn't know where he was"

"We discussed the conditions of this interview with Jean-Michel Blanquer's office on December 30 and 31, so a few hours before New Year's Eve. And the office asked us if we could do the interview remotely. I gave my agreement", recounts Michel Salvator. "We didn't know at all where he was. It's not the custom to make police inquiries about the whereabouts of the interlocutors we are questioning. We are not in a police system where he we should require our interlocutors to tell us exactly where they are, with whom and in what outfit.

The photo illustrating the interview, signed by journalists Thomas Poupeau and Pierre Maurer, was taken on November 12, as part of a previous interview with Jean-Michel Blanquer.

Jean-Michel Salvator explains to Europe 1 why the editorial staff did not specify that this photo was dated.

"It's not customary, so we don't do it. I don't feel like I misled the reader by posting this photo which was two months old," he explains.

"Some opposition representatives are overplaying the indignation"

“Honestly, what difference does it make that he did this interview from Ibiza, his office or elsewhere?” Asks the editorial director of Le

Parisien

at our microphone .

"I think the subject is not there. We are in an election campaign, so obviously everyone is involved in politics. Some opposition representatives are overplaying indignation, it is part of a campaign. But we don't have to be involved in that."

For its part, the minister's office assured that "it is not because he was not there that Jean-Michel Blanquer was not at work".
