Danger up to death .. A doctor warns against watching TV for long periods

The Russian doctor, Giorgi Sabiga, announced that watching television programs for two continuous hours may cause serious health risks, including death.

In an interview with Radio "Sputnik", the doctor notes that watching television programs as usual can harm health, including blockage of the pulmonary artery as a result of a blood clot forming in a vein reaching the pulmonary artery.

He says, "Blood clots sometimes form in the veins of the legs, as a result of stagnant blood or poor blood flow. If this clot reaches the pulmonary artery or one of its large branches, it will block blood flow. Then the person feels shortness of breath and pain in the rib cage area, and the level of blood pressure rises. "If the clot is large, it can cause death. But if it is small and blocks a small branch of the pulmonary artery, the person may not feel it at all."

He adds: "When you sit 2-3 hours in front of the TV without movement, the possibility of pulmonary artery blockage increases greatly. Stretching the legs or placing one leg over the other greatly exacerbates the situation."

He says, "To prevent clots from forming, it is preferable to sit comfortably, not to cross one leg and not to wear tight pants. Do not sit for a long period of 2-3 hours without movement. It is important every 60 minutes to get up and walk for 5-10 minutes and move the feet."

He adds: If a person feels shortness of breath, chest pain, pain in the feet, redness and swelling, after remaining still without movement, an ambulance should be called immediately.
