FKA Twigs made its entrance as a Bowie-like figure with features of both Kate Bush, Björk and time-typical innovative r'n'b a bit into the decade.

Her theatrical, dramatic art pop was praised!

First on the debut album LP1 and then, even more, on the sequel Magdalena from 2019. As well as on the performance-like concerts around the world (both Way Out West and Popaganda were visited).

Caprisongs are something else.

Here, the former dancer puts large parts of the avant-garde aside and releases bass and swing in the form of trap, afrobeat, drill, drum n 'bass and electronic pop and invites The Weeknd, Pa Salieu and other small and large greats as guests.

The stories of her illness and the lawsuit against the former love on the previous album are replaced by a more mundane and much brighter tone;

pre-party and voice memo with friends.

It's like the Twigs left their alien persona on the spaceship to party in Croydon like a regular British girl.

Unfortunately, not all of the 17 tracks on the tape are as elaborate as the dancehall flirtation Papibones with Shygirl or Darjeeling with Jorja Smith (where the 90s hit You're not Alone with Olive gets a nice new life), but that Taliah Barnett (as the 34-year-old is actually called ) belongs just as much in this part of the music - outside the more advanced compositions - there is no doubt.

How exciting it will be to hear what she does next.
