  According to reports, chandeliers belong to the Oleander family and are mainly distributed in Africa, tropical Asia and Oceania.

At present, a total of 21 wild plants of the genus Chandelier have been recorded in China.

  From mid-July to early August 2021, a joint expedition led by researcher Xing Yaowu from Xishuangbanna Botanical Garden conducted an investigation and specimen collection of vascular plants on the southern slope of the Himalayas in Shigatse, Tibet.

Investigators found an unknown plant of the genus Chandelier in full bloom in Sale Township, Jilong County.

After anatomical photography, literature review and type specimens of similar species were checked, it was finally confirmed as a new species.

It is named Ceropegia jilongensis according to its type of origin.

  Geelong chandelier is similar in shape to the key crown chandelier, but the pedicel is densely pubescent, the outer part of the corolla tube is hairy and the inner part is glabrous, the upper part of the corolla is about twice as wide as the lower part, and the outer corolla lobes have 2 teeth, which is obvious from the similar species. the difference.
