On January 16, a 7-year-old female white-cheeked gibbon from Hangzhou Zoo, "Ming Da", appeared at the Hainan Tropical Wildlife and Botanical Garden to meet citizens and tourists.

It is reported that "Ming Da" recently flew from Hangzhou to Haikou. With the help of the staff, it will "liangliang" and "tie the knot" with another 8-year-old male white-cheeked gibbon raised by Haiye.

This is also a white-cheeked gibbon breeding work jointly carried out by Hangzhou Zoo and Hainan Tropical Wildlife Garden.

  The white-cheeked gibbon is a national first-class protected animal. It is an endemic species in the border area of ​​China, Laos and Vietnam. It mainly inhabits tropical rain forests.

At present, the total number of this species is less than 350, and it has become a highly endangered species, with a population far smaller than that of giant pandas, and is listed as critically endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.
