The strangest case of divorce in Syria: After 125 days of marriage, the bride divorces herself

Lattakia recorded one of the strangest cases of divorce that took place in Syria. The first Sharia judge in Latakia, Ahmed Qirata, revealed the registration of an out-of-the-ordinary divorce case in the governorate, after the wife was registered on the condition that she had the right to divorce herself in one of the marriage instruments registered with the court.

Qirata explained, in statements reported by the local newspaper, Al-Watan, that “there are special conditions that can be included in the marriage deed, whereby the two parties to the contract can set whatever conditions they want, but often no special conditions are mentioned, except for one time, where the fiancée included the marriage deed as a condition. Especially when she wants to launch herself.

Qirata confirmed that the wife actually divorced herself 125 days after registering the marriage contract.

He pointed out that the dowry in the marriage deed that the wife terminated was 10 million unpaid deferred and 10 million unearned deferred.

Qirata confirmed the high rates of divorce in Syria in recent years, citing reasons for “the absence or loss of a husband, moral decline in society, social disintegration, and the high cost of living, all of which have an impact on the increase in divorce cases that occur today in Syria,” he said.

The Sharia judge linked the high crime rates and the increase in divorce cases in Syria.

On this, he added: “Most of the criminals are divorced people, or children of divorced parents in many cases, and the spread of the Internet and the penetration of jealousy among women in imitating each other, at a time when their material conditions are not the same, and jealousy, demanding equality and ideals, and imitating the poorest of the richest may cause impotence and frustration for the husband. As a result, this leads to divorce.”

Regarding his registration of the highest dowry in Lattakia Governorate, and the Syrians’ preoccupation with this news during the past days, Qirata explained that the young man who registered an unreceived dowry of 100 billion Syrian pounds and an unreceived accrual of 100 billion Syrian pounds is an ordinary person and not one of the famous or the rich.
