Nationals of some countries travel more easily than others.

This is shown by the annual ranking of the most powerful passports established by the English consulting company Henley & Partners and relayed by

Les Echos

on Wednesday.

It is Japan and Singapore which hold ex aequo the first place of the prize list.

A situation unchanged compared to 2021. With a passport from these countries, it is possible to reach 192 destinations without a visa.

In addition, the majority of the countries which appear in the top 10 are located on the European continent.

France in fourth position

Germany and South Korea are in second place with 190 visa-free destinations.

The third step of the podium is held by Finland, Italy, Luxembourg and Spain.

Nationals of these countries can reach 189 destinations.

With 188 destinations that can be reached without a visa, France comes in fourth position in this “Henley Passport” index.

It shares this place with four other countries: Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden.

Ireland and Portugal close the top 5. The United States and the United Kingdom, which were in first position in 2014, are now in sixth position (186 destinations).

Last place for Afghanistan

At the bottom of this ranking, we find Afghanistan.

Having a passport from this country allows you to travel to only 26 countries, without a visa.

The country ranks behind Iraq (28) and Syria (29) or Pakistan (31).

According to the 2022 report, the health situation has worsened the gap between the countries of the north and those of the south.

With the arrival of Omicron, many countries are also facing travel restrictions.
